Dad Makes Mini Target And Starbucks For His Daughter Who Misses Going Out During Quarantine

Target Mini Store

As the lockdown due to Coronavirus keeps getting longer and longer, parents are on a daily spree to make their kids feel less bored at home. When the lockdown prevented a California family from visiting Target and Starbucks, a frequent fun ritual, Diego Gonzalez decided to create mini versions of these.

The Kern County police officer built, Target cash counter and Starbucks stand for his daughter Mila, on his day-offs. His daughter loves going to Target, and is very fond of Starbucks cake pops, at the Target corner.

Since they could no longer visit the stores, Gonzalez recreated the mini version in his daughter’s playroom. The details were perfect with him designing, Mila’s Target name tag and “employee of the month” plaque to a miniature coffee maker toy, fake mini cake pops, and real Starbucks aprons

Gonzalez got the Target name tag from a local Target store that lovingly donated the real Target name tag to him!

Her “employee of the month” plaque features an adorably frustrated Mia, as she almost started crying by the end of the photoshoot (we feel that!)

By the end of it, Mia immediately recognized the Target store and started playing with it. The mini version had actual gift-cards, real food, a miniature red shopping cart, and a wet floor sign, to imitate the real store much as possible.

For the Starbucks stand, he used left-over wood from another home renovation. He has no building or construction experience and this was his first-ever project!

Both playsets took around 2 weeks to complete with the daddy-daughter duo having a great time together building them. The stand had adorable coffee-themed toys, aprons from an actual Starbucks, and print-out stickers with Starbucks logo! They also re-used the small cups they had from before.

Mia’s playroom Target and Starbucks set even has a seating area!

“We are a really close family, and this project did unite us even more,” Gonzalez told Insider.
