Pilots In This California Neighborhood Have Hangars As Garages To Park Their Planes

Imagine living in a place where there is a place to park your plane outside your home. There is one such neighborhood in the USA that was built after WWII. It was an old airbase transformed into a residential neighborhood, where all the residents are elite pilots and park planes outside of their homes.

Cameron Airpark Estates in California is said to be one of the nicest airparks in the country. Residents here have hangars as a garage, and planes on the streets are as common as cars.

The streets of the Cameron Airpark is little wider so that both planes and car can run on it. The streets are about 100 feet wide.

It’s actually wider than the airport’s runway.

The street signs and mailboxes in the neighborhood, are built extra-low, at less than 3 feet, to avoid them from being clipped by the plane’s wings. Also, all the street names are aviation-themed–––from Boeing Road to Cessna Drive.

And another coolest thing about this neighborhood is that many residents commute to work by plane! Why spend 2 hours in traffic when you have a plane parked just outside your home?

The Cameron Airpark, along with the Cameron Park Airport, was built in 1963. The Airpark is today home to only 124 houses, and with roughly 20 empty lots. Each house in the Airpark is unique as each was built by an individual, according to their taste.

This place must be a paradise for an aviation enthusiast to live in and if you are one of them, and wanna live there then check this page. There is only one home currently up for sale in the Cameron Airpark Estates.
